Meet the trainer

Hi! I’m Samantha Formby. I own and run Fetch Club dog training and have been professionally working with dogs since 2012. Over the last 11 years I have developed experience and specialised knowledge in dealing with a range of common behaviour issues faced by pet dog owners.

In 2017 I set up Fetch Club to offer bespoke dog training to both online and offline clients in the local area. After continued growth and success, Fetch Club was expanded to include specialist group classes and courses. And for dogs who would benefit from controlled socialisation, we regulary offer group walks which combine training and walking.

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Biology from Manchester University where the interest in animal behaviour science took hold. After graduation, I went on to shadow a local dog trainer and behaviourist at their training school in Barnsley, and secured a job as an assistant dog trainer a year later. It was here that I was mentored for the next 8 years as I ran puppy and adult obedience classes. I continue my own professional development yearly by attending conferences, webinars, seminars, and online courses. I additionally spent a year working in animal rescue, gaining experience working with dogs with vast behavioural problems and the ethics and difficulties in rehoming these types of dogs.

I own two dogs of my own, Roxy and Havoc.

Roxy is a dobermann crossbreed that I met while working in rescue. Roxy was a young and very lively dog who had spent half of her life in rescue. Understandably, she came home with a range of her own behaviour problems, most notably separation anxiety and reactive behaviours. Helping Roxy to overcome her complex issues threw me head first into the world of dog behaviour rehabilitation. Roxy now helps me on client jobs rehabilitating and socialising other dogs, and we have never looked back!

Havoc is my border collie labrador cross. He is a ball of energy and together we do a variety of trick training, obedience work, and scent work. We also compete in agility competitions, although we are yet to win anything!
